How We Make Our Products — And Why It Matters to Us

At Z+B Candle Co., everything we make is poured by hand in small batches right here in our little hometown in Tennessee.

We pour, test, label, and package every product ourselves — which means we take the safety and quality of our ingredients seriously. This page isn’t about fancy claims or marketing — it’s just an honest look at what we use, why we use it, and how we make sure the products in your home are ones we’d proudly use in ours.

Our Wax Blends

We work with soy-based wax blends for both our candles and wax melts. These blends are:
  • Paraffin-free
  • Plant-derived
  • Known for clean, steady performance

Our Wicks

Every candle we pour uses a wick made from:
  • Cotton
  • Paper filaments
  • Zero lead, zero zinc, zero hidden metals
We test each fragrance and vessel combination to make sure the burn is safe, stable, and consistent. Wick testing is one of the longest parts of our process — but it’s also one of the most important.

Our Fragrance Oils

We only use fragrance oils that comply with IFRA (International Fragrance Association) safety standards. This means:
  • Every scent is used within safe, approved limits
  • Many of our oils are phthalate-free
  • Every oil is backed by safety documentation, including IFRA reports and SDS sheets


The Honest Truth About “Non-Toxic” Claims

You’ll never see us use misleading terms like “chemical-free” or “non-toxic.”
We’re a small-town business, but we keep things honest:
  • Candles, wax melts, and scented products all release fragrance compounds into the air — that's literally how you smell them.
  • We aren't going to pretend that away — our intention is to use well-regulated ingredients responsibly and in accordance with industry standards.
Our products are made with materials that are widely considered safe for normal household use, and we always recommend following basic safety practices just like you would with any candle or home fragrance item.


Burn & Use Safety

We want your home to feel cozy and safe. Here’s how to get the best experience:

Candles
  • Trim wick to 1/4" before each burn
  • Burn 2–3 hours at a time
  • Keep away from drafts, vents, and fans
  • Never leave a candle burning unattended
  • Stop burning while 1/2" of wax remains
Wax Melts
  • Use only in UL-listed warmers
  • Warm in a ventilated space
  • Avoid running warmers continuously for long periods
  • Keep all melts away from kids and pets
These steps help ensure a clean burn and the longest life out of your product.
